Yorkshire, with arguably some of the best cycling that the UK has to offer. This is your opportunity to follow in the tyre tracks of the pros. You'll be taking in parts of the Tour de France 2014 route, enjoying quiet roads, conquering iconic climbs, and soaking up breathtaking scenery. The rolling terrain will be punctuated with plenty of café stops, serving much-needed coffee and cake! Maybe it’ll be Zoë’s favourite — a cinnamon bun — or perhaps some local delights such as Yorkshire parkin or Yorkshire curd tart. Alongside the cycling, you'll have time to explore the spa town of Ilkley, known for its picturesque setting, Ilkley Moor, and the famous Cow & Calf Rocks.

Arrive and settle into your accommodation. For those arriving early, there’ll be the option of a short spin in the afternoon. Otherwise, we’ll meet for a relaxed optional group dinner at 7pm — the perfect chance to get to know one another and chat about all things cycling.

After breakfast, we’ll roll out on our epic adventure. Following the river up the Wharfdale Valley, we’ll pass the beautiful Bolton Abbey and cycle through picturesque villages, with dry stone walls and rugged landscapes. Reaching Kettlewell, at the foot of Great Whernside and Buckden Pike, we’ll have the option to tackle Kidstones. This climb featured as the first King of the Mountains ascent on Stage One of the 2014 Tour de France. From there, we’ll return along the valley via Grassington, which is regularly used as a filming location for shows such as All Creatures Great & Small, where we’ll stop to refuel. With cafés aplenty, we’re sure to find something for everyone. The route then takes us through Appletreewick, past Barden Tower, and back through the Bolton Abbey estate. For those who want one last test, there’s the local climb of Langbar. Short but severe, it’s part of local cycling folklore. Once you’ve reached the summit, it’s downhill all the way into Ilkley. The evening is yours to either explore Ilkley or simply relax and recover after an unforgettable day in the saddle.

We'll meet early for Zoë's regular ride, the Burnsall Bun Run! Heading out of Ilkley up the valley to beautiful Burnsall and The Riverbank Café. This is a hugely popular café for both hikers and cyclists enjoying the great outdoors of the Dales, and of course, it's home to the beloved cinnamon buns! Other cakes are available of course and all are home baked by the wonderful Rachel. From there we'll return to Ilkley, and it'll be time to bid a fond farewell to the wonderful Yorkshire Dales. Should you have tired legs from the day before, this ride is optional and you can choose to enjoy a morning at your own pace and check out at your leisure.

Hello I'm Zoë. Originally from Wales, but I've been living in Yorkshire for the past 7 years. Yorkshire offers up some of the best cycling with it's mixed terrain and stunning scenery, I feel very lucky to live on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. If I'm not in the Dales, you'll often find me overseas with my bike, be it exploring Girona, climbing high in The Pyrenees, or taking my gravel bike on the cobbles of Paris-Roubaix, I simply love the adventure of exploring on two wheels, the cycling community I meet and the new cafes I find!
It all started with a 24 hour charity challenge. Fast forward 10 years and I'm a qualified cycling coach, ride leader and I have the best job ever where I work as a cycling event manager on a series of charity cycling events across the UK.
Yorkshire is my adopted home (and where my partner David comes from). I have lived here for 7 years now and I absolutely love it. We are so lucky to live on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales where the scenery never fails to amaze me and I never get bored of the views. The dry stone walls, the rolling fields, the beautiful rugged charm. It's a cyclist's paradise and I cannot wait to show you around my favourite routes, climbs and cafes!
