Sam's itinerary for this trip

Day 1 - Welcome to Wales
Day 1

Welcome to Wales

We’ll start the trip with a welcome dinner, a chance to meet everyone and settle in. Get ready for Sam's famous pub quiz—an easy, light-hearted way to get to know each other and kick things off.

Day 2 - Hike and Summit Pen Yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd and Carnedd Llewelyn
Day 2

Hike and Summit Pen Yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd and Carnedd Llewelyn

This epic circular route is around 15km and will summit three of the legendary Welsh 3000s! Starting in the Ogwen Valley this route will offer brilliant views (and plenty of photo ops) across the valley to the formidable Tryfan! There is a small (unexposed) grade one scramble up to Pen Yr Ole Wen which serves as a perfect one for newbies to scrambling. We will then follow the ridge line and secure a further two summits before heading back down towards the A5 past a picturesque lake.

Day 3 - Exploration Day - Dinorwic Quarry and The Secret Lagoon
Day 3

Exploration Day - Dinorwic Quarry and The Secret Lagoon

After a challenging hike the day before this second day is dedicated to exploration (and a bit of a rest on the legs!) We will take our time exploring Dinorwic Quarry in all its hidden wonders including caves and waterfalls! This is truly one of the most incredible features of the Welsh Landscape and will provide the best photos and memories! After this we will head to the lesser known Secret Lagoon - an abandoned quarry that has filled with water and now glows a luminous blue!

Day 4 - The Devils Kitchen and the Glyders
Day 4

The Devils Kitchen and the Glyders

It is the final day of the trip, and as you get ready to leave with wonderful memories and new friends, we have one final epic hike to finish our adventurous weekend! The hike up Devils Kitchen is awe inspiring and offers us unbelievable views back across the Ogwen Valley to Pen Yr Ole Wen which we would have summited just 48 hours before! This hike will include three more of The Welsh 3000s (Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach and the lesser known Castell y Gwynt) and if the weather is clear a brilliant photo opportunity on the Snowdonia Surf Board at the top!

Fun Fact

I was recently nicknamed at a community camp Sam Lays-About because it takes me a while to wake up in the morning!

Short Bio

I fell in love with hiking back in February 2024 and since then it has gone completely out of control in the most incredible way possible! From completing The South Downs Way, Summiting all 16 of the Welsh 3000s and the National 3 Peaks in the UK to crossing Madeira Wild Camping, Hiking across the Sinai Desert and Kayaking in the Norwegian Fjords it has been and continues to be all about adventure!

Why I got into hiking?

At the start of 2024 I was in one of the darkest most desperate times of my life. I felt trapped, suffocated and was looking for an escape. Then on one afternoon I went for my first hike. I was out on The South Downs and it was the best I had felt in months. What has since followed has been nothing short of magical. I have had the best times of my life, made incredible friends, had the most epic adventures! I am all about positivity and want to inspire others to get outdoors and experience that feeling of pure adventure and freedom!

Why I am hosting?

Having spent so much of my hiking journey in Wales it has such a dear place in my heart! My first scramble across Crib Goch, my first Mountain and my first challenge was to complete all of these legendary peaks! It has so many wonders to explore and an area I know very well so thought it would be the perfect place to host fellow adventurers who want to have these brilliant experiences surrounded by like minded people!
